Snow assignment!

I want you to find a work of art that features sound as a key component and that you find particularly interesting. It can be a work in any medium, sculpture, video, installation, mixed media. Everything is game except for something that could be described as "music." (we are trying to branch out here) Post your find on your blog, whether it is an embedded youtube video or a link to a site. Have this posted by Monday. Here are some links to get you started-

1st Project hand-in instructions for Feb. 4

Hand in your video as a data file on cd-r or dvd-r. The file should be exported from final cut pro as a Quicktime conversion, H.264, very good quality.

Remember, if you need help, I am available before class on critique day, either in the lab or in the adjunct office directly below the lab.

1st test study guide

1. Know definitions from front of video handout.

2. Be able to answer some general questions about the Krauss article.

3. Technical portion- You will be given 2 video clips. You must set up the folders and scratch disks correctly in Final Cut Pro, and save the project as test_<your name> in the correct folder.

You will import the clips into the bin. You must place them on the time line and place a transition between the clips. You will also place a filter on one of those clips and key-frame the filter so the effect changes over time.

At the end of the movie you will place text containing your name over a black background for 5 seconds. Finally, you will export the movie at full quality and save your project.

Test will be at the beginning of class Monday Feb. 8. Don't be late.
